Weezer pinkerton deluxe edition blogspot

But my first experience with Pinkerton was after all of this. I was a relatively new Weezer fan. One day, I was locked out of my house. Having nothing else to do until someone who could let me in got home, I watched TV through the sliding glass door.

MTV2 was on, back when they still played music videos. After a few videos had come and gone, I saw a familiar name: Weezer. I saw that the album the song came off of was called Pinkerton , so I made a mental note to order the album online as soon as I could get back inside. When the album finally arrived, I carefully unwrapped the package. My friend, also a new Weezer convert, was there with me, and together we waited in anticipation as I popped the CD into the stereo.

Dejectedly, I put the CD away. Despite my less-than-fortunate experience with their second album, I found my Weezer fandom growing throughout the next few months.

To my surprised, it was on the loathsome Pinkerton. Skeptically, I put the CD back in the player for the first time since the fateful first listening. It had that poppy Weezer sound I loved, but there was something deeper here too, more visceral, more honest.

I started the album all over and listened to it from start to finish. Just from this one listen, I knew that this was my favorite album of all time.

It was a nice two-disc set, with disc one being the album itself and disc two containing the associated B-sides, some demos, live versions and two previously-unheard songs. Earlier this year, the band announced that a Pinkerton Deluxe was in the works. Going off of the model of Blue Deluxe, most fans expected a similar two-disc set, with the album on one disc, and disc two containing demos, B-sides, live versions, and if the band was feeling charitable, some unused SFTBH material.

That would have made fans very happy. But earlier this summer, Popular Sounds , a fan blog, claimed much more was on the way for Pinkerton Deluxe:. Coming from an e-mail of vague provinence, I was informed that Pinkerton [Deluxe] will have a total of 43 tracks spanning 2 discs! There was a lot of skepticism surrounding these claims. Adding further intrigue was the confirmation of the Tragic Girl rumor, when without any prompting, Rivers tweeted :. With the man behind Weezer confirming the existence of such a song, maybe this track myth has some basis in reality after all.

In August , the re-united Wezeer played at the Fuji Festival. For some time, the artists performed as Goat Punishment, but finally took back the original title. In , the constantly touring musicians recorded the disc Weezer, also known as The Green Album, and immediately headed on a new tour. In August , Mikey Welsh was reportedly taken to the psychiatric hospital, and Scott Shriner became his replacement. Only in a year, the band released the disc Maladroit, noticeable for such hits as Dope Nose and Keep Fishin.

Soon after the issue of Maladroit, the artists got down to their next labor Make Believe, which saw light only in The winding rock single Beverly Hills, nominated for Grammy, became the chart topper immediately after its launch. In , the group presented their sixth studio attempt Weezer, more known as The Red Album.

This experimental disc features alt-rock, baroque pop, rapping and unexpectedly long for Weezer compositions. Pork and Beans became the first hit from the full-length, while the daring single Troublemaker continued its success.

A year later the rockers prepared a very powerful record Raditude , which was followed by the album Hurley that turned out to be as original as its predecessor. The essential material for this re-release could have filled a single disc. As is, the live stuff ruins the otherwise great first disc, and renders most of the second disc dull. I hate assigning numerical values to records.
