My guess is that it has something to do with security. I saw a suggestion that adding a gateway on the Windows 7 machine was the answer. I did this an saw the indation that I now had internet connectivity; but when I went to the XP I still got the same message.

System A sees B on its network, but only sees through the lens of the Windows Media Player, despite that fact that I have made several drives shareable on both systems.
System B does not see A on its network. My guess is that I am using the server adapter for the crossover cable. The other provides my Ethernet service.
